For someone who can be more bratty than at mouthy little kid, this tour of Joan Rivers’ secret closet by the women herself is fun, useful and endearing. Loving her mantra:
“It ain’t about price, it’s the look.”
During the tour she states:
“Fashion should make you feel happy. We’re all our own Barbie doll. Anyone who takes fashion seriously is a fool,”
She explains. “What’s the worst that’s going to happen? You’re going to go out somewhere, and you’re going to put something on, and you’re going to look like an idiot. So what? You can take it off, and it doesn’t matter.”
And her expertise regarding all things plastic extends to her tips for storing accessories:
“When something works well with an outfit jewellery-wise, I store them in a plastic bag on the hanger of the outfit…then when I go to wear the outfit again I never think ‘what will look good with that?’.”
I’ll never look at a Zip Lock baggie while wrapping the kids lunches for school again without seeing Joan’s face. Mornings could just become much more interesting…
