For the uninitiated – that was me until yesterday – Coachella is not a program for learning how to coach your daughter’s soccer team.
It is in fact, an annual 3 day music festival held in Indio, California, where celebs gather to let their hair down and rock out.

It’s always fun to see the fashions from Coachella, as everyone tends to freestyle a bit more with their regular look, and there is a relaxed vibe that’s inspiring when you need ideas for what to wear in a more casual environment – playground anyone?
We’ve overlaid the Fox In Flats Fashion Filter over the hundreds of Coachella photos that are currently shooting around cyber-space, and have found the top 5 style ideas from Coachella 2011, for mums like us.
1. Wear your ‘good’ top out during the day.
A flowy silk top can take you from the most casual day, and rockin’ into the night. Stop keeping things for a special occasion, start maximizing what you’ve got in your wardrobe, and peace out like Nicole.

2. Hooker boots are out. Loafers are in.
Word on the street is that development of Pretty Woman 2 may be underway.

This time though, they’ll switch the hooker boots for Penny Loafers, and call it ‘Penny Woman’.
3. Army shirts are no longer for camouflage.
Alexa just can’t put a foot wrong in the fashion stakes, and she nails it yet again in the role of rock star girlfriend to Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys.

An army shirt in a heavy cotton drill can do double duty as a jacket, and it’ll make you stand out. In a good way.
4. Aztec is Awesome
Rachel Bilson mixes up her prints in this summery ensemble, but it’s the bag that our needle is stuck on.

5. Feather earrings are totally fly.
And Cougar Town’s Busy Phillips looked ready to fly off in her feather earrings.

Fabulous, yes.
But perhaps it’s best to save feathers for a non-windy day. Or leave them to the birds.
These earrings are what you call all-weather-feathers…
