New research shows that women yearn for the golden age that their mothers enjoyed in the 70s and 80s, due to increased pressure to juggle work and family life.

Yet, I’m just yearning for the clothes.

Tonight I celebrate...my love for your mom's dress.

The survey of 1,000 mothers found that more than a third said they had less time to themselves than their mothers did – just three hours a week or 26 minutes a day.

It is little wonder our mums had such great hair.

Kate Fox, of the Social Issues Research Centre, which conducted the survey for Procter & Gamble, said:

With increasing pressure on mothers to work a “double shift” – to be the perfect mother as well as a wage-earner – support networks are more important than ever.

It’s hard to argue with Kate and her study.

And it’s hard to argue with that hot mum style.

My mu had a gorgeous polka dot mini dress that she wore on her honeymoon. It was red and white. I always loved it.
I have a real yearning for vintage clothed from the 70′s and have started buying up from a few local sellers. I just can’t get enough!

Not something anyone would wish to steal but explains my yearning for comfort…my mum always wore a frog green terry toweling shift dress. I even tried to recreate a spunky version from red toweling in my early 20′s. Can’t believe I have put that on public record!

My mum had a red & white polka dot dress too – only it was a maxi, and she wore it to a wedding in 1976. Wish I had a photo to share. Wish I had it to wear!!!

My mum had this beautiful hand crocheted poncho in a cream Arran knit, Andrea. She matched it with stack heeled cream canvas thigh length boots and a denim mini.

I’ve been looking for a pair of boots like those for over twenty years.

Reminds me of my mums boots. They were just simple black, knee high with a pointy heel, but when I wore them they came up to my thighs, and I WAS WONDER WOMAN (in my mind anyway!!)

I SO LOVE vintage clothes and bravely donned some really bold 60s and 70s looks in my teens and twenties. I’m not quite as bold these days so I attempt to tone it down, but I haven’t mastered the art of mixing vintage pieces with current wardrobe. You think you could post about that, FoxInFlats? Pretty please?

My mum’s (first!) wedding dress was a gorgeous ’60s style and she wore a pillbox hat and gloves. I never saw it in real life but the photos capture the moment.

She had this t-shirt that I loved then and would wear now myslf – it was a plain scoop Tee in navy blue with two huge daisies right where her boobs were!! Classic!! It does make me want to get my screen printing gear out and make my own… Hooray for the 70′s!!!!
