The little black dress out to play, for the day.

I always thought my little black dresses were only meant for nights out, until I spotted these women.

Coco Chanel always said the LBD was versatile, and ladies, you have made her proud!

Do you wear a LBD for day, and if so, how do you style it?

But I am trying to escape from the sea of black that is Melbourne! However I do agree that the LBD is a most useful wardrobe item. I just don’t want to see it until winter is really here.

BTW just discovered your blog via the Mamamia site. Love your work!

I don’t really wear that much black, but I do have a fabulous CR cotton shirt dress that I wear everywhere from the beach over my togs to summer barbecues with fabulous sandals.  Perfect holiday dress.  I mid-season it with leggings and a cropped cardigan, and I winterise it with boots, skinny cords or jeans, a fine gauge woollen skivvy and a statement long necklace. I found the exact same dress in Vinnies recently and now have two!

I also have been wearing a black fitted full skirted sleeveless Cue dress quite a lot this winter.  The trick for me to wear black (which I really don’t like to do but so many lovely things are only made in black!) is to wear it with blue.  I like to wear navy or cobalt with black.  Camel is lovely too.  I try to steer away from red and black, because I think it’s a little obvious, except for my favourite red and black striped sweater dress.  Although being from Canterbury, home of the mighty Crusaders, I am a little fond of red and black! :)

    Long live the LBD!

Hi I'm Andrea, and Fox In Flats is my baby.

I'm also the mother of two little boys, who I credit for the motherhood induced fashion rut that I fell into sometime between the labour ward and now…

Here, we're sharing tips, ideas and inspiration to make it much, much easier to navigate motherhood in style.

Enjoy!
